It's the last day of #SaveYourVisionWeek and I wanted to show how everyone can help people with vision loss.
1. Join a Local or National Charity
Joining a charity that supports research or helps people losing their vision. Such as Bright Focus, Fight for Sight, and VisionAware among others can help raise awareness, fund research, and meet peers. You can learn what you or a loved one is going through, help with fundraising, and help others newly diagnosed. 2. Petition the Government Joining a petition, either online or in person can help push or repeal local, state and national level Bills that help people with vision loss through the government. Passing such Bills like H.R. 1120, or repealing Bills like Oklahoma's HB 1861 would greatly help the local community of people with vision loss. 3. Leave a Donation Giving a donation, either a one time, annual, or a legacy donation will go a long way to helping fund research, education and awareness, and supporting those with vision loss. You can even donate your old car to organizations such as the American Federation of the Blind. 4. Educate Yourselves Learn about the different types of vision loss and the people who have it. Help get rid of the stereotypes and fear surrounding people with vision loss. I always say that education is the key to getting rid of ignorance. Read stories on blogs (& mine) about vision loss, watch YouTube videos, attend a lecture or workshop and just have fun learning! I hope you enjoyed my posts for #SaveYourVisionWeek and hope you learned a thing or two. Have a great weekend!
