Second Last Day of this series! (Read yesterday's post why)
Now you've read all kinds of ways to improve yourself in all kinds of different ways....
But none of that will ever work if you have a negative mindset.
How to Get Rid of a Negative Mindset
1. Find Someone to Talk To
When you find yourself thinking nothing but negative thoughts, it’s hard to snap yourself out of it. Get together with a trusted friend or family member and talk about what’s getting you down
2. Recognize it & Stop It
You're the only one who knows what you're thinking, if you catch yourself thinking negatively, just tell yourself to stop it.
3. Come Up With a Mantra
Use the things you tell yourself from Day 5.
4. Be Kind To Yourself
I know we are our own worse critics. But turn it around and praise yourself, compliment yourself and be nice to yourself. If this is hard sometimes, then treat yourself as a stranger, only allow thoughts that you will only say to a stranger. You wouldn't dare call a stranger some of the names you call yourself would you?
5. Remember that Feelings are Not Facts
We get so emotionally wrapped in our thoughts that we forget that emotions are liars! Plain and simple. Calm down and look at the facts of the situation, you'll slowly see that your emotion was clouding the true situation. I know I've been there, and it's not pretty in the midst of it.
6. Stop Forcing Your Own Rules On Life
The big factor in negative thinking is making tight rules on how things must be. We all have done it - "if I can't do this, then I must be stupid", "he's late, he must be cheating", "my kid got a bad grade, I'm a bad mother". Y'all know what I'm talking about. We've got to learn that LIFE is not like that at all! Everyone's got their own rulebook and it fits nowhere. So throw out your strict rule book and go with common sense.
Hope these help and have a great weekend!
