Insulin Pen Commercials
Hi, Have you seen those Diabetes insulin pen commercials?
Like this? (holds up insulin pen)
Not the same brand, not saying that.
A man states they're wonderful, just put in my pocket and go.
Sure, these don't have to stay cold,
and they replace these (holds up insulin vial and needles)
That's why you can put it in your pocket and go.
But! I'm annoyed because it's not true!
Why? Because you still need to bring....
(holds up insulin pen needle tip)
(holds up a lancet pen and lancet needle tip)
(holds up a bottle of test strips)
(holds up an alcohol wipe)
(holds up a Testing device)
So, only bring a pen?
Not true, so I'm annoyed the commercials lied!

My Gripe about Contact Forms
Hi, I want to gripe about contact forms. You know on various websites, whether it’s a big company or small company. They have a “contact me” showing phone, email, contact form. Enter your name, email, question or feedback and then fill out the form and send it off.
Once in a while I fill one out, asking a question, needing help and send it off. Wait 1 week….2 weeks….1 month….then I give up and call them through Relay and work it out.
Also hospitals now have a Patient Access site, where you can check test results, pay your bill and even have a “make an appointment” option. Perfect, fill out my available times “I’d like an appointment within the next 2 months”. Fill it out and send it off. Wait but no replies, give up and call through Relay. “Oh, we don’t use the Contact Forms”.
Then why do you have them? Or, I get a reply back – perfect! I open it and it says “Please call the office” Why do you have a contact form if you won’t answer them? Simple to train a person to answer them.
Some hospital offices have 2 or 3 staff secretaries all working and answering phones – train one to answer emails and contact forms. It’s simple.
Need access than phoning everywhere. I don’t want to be dependent on that. I prefer the easy contact form – type it out, send it off, get a reply, “Oh thank you”. It’s done and over with!

Lipreading
Haley is listening using her residual hearing. She hears something like this:
__a__ _e __o_ _o_ _i__ _o__ee a__ a _a___i_
She lipreads something like this:
Ch_ll qu_ t_m v_r qu_k t_vv_nt_ _p r_j
She puts listening and lipreading together and gets:
Chall que tom vora wick toffee anter am rich
First she tries to sort out the shapes that look the same:
Shall we top for a quick toffee anter am rich
Then she applies common sense to fill in the gaps and correct misunderstandings:
Shall we top for a quick coffee anter samwich (sic)
Finally she puts everything together:
Shall we stop for a quick coffee and a sandwich?
